Almira Collins Giddings was born in Litchfield, Conn.; she may have attended Litchfield Female Academy and later taught art at the Female Academy in the 1820s. In 1826 she married Salmon Giddings in Collinsville, Ill., and after their marriage the couple lived in St. Louis, Mo., where he was pastor at First Presbyterian Church. In 1828 Salmon Giddings died and later Almira lived with her son Frederick Salmon Giddings, a lawyer, in Quincy, Ill. From the description of Almira Collins G...
